I want to point I've eaten in Lockhart, Franklin's, Rudy's and Salt Lick. We were limited to a smaller menu as well. We had brisket, two types of chicken, a pasta dish, ribs, and some pulled pork as options. I got the ribs and with a side of Ceasar salad and a skinless potato. I heard the brisket was a bit dry and I was offended they called it Texas brisket and let it come out that dry. The ribs I had were primarily sauce sitting on top of the ribs. The dry rub wasn't on there, at all. The Ceasar salad was tasty and light. The skinless potato seemed to lack something but I couldn't recall what it was. Another person at my table had the spitfire pasta. I sampled it and felt that although it was mac and cheese with their rotisserie chicken, it was actually very tasty. The sauce was the right consistency and the rotisserie chicken was moist still. I'd come back because I saw the rotisserie chicken after the fact. It did look good. However, I do not think I'll be travelling back through Fargo anytime soon.

Reportedly my daughter's favorite lunch place and I don't blame her. It was busy when we arrived just before noon on a weekday but we were seated promptly and our server, though clearly busy with several tables all over the place in various stages of their meal, paying their tab, or generally monopolizing her time, managed to get to us several times as we ordered drinks, then our meals. She brought out a soft, warm, dark bread that I am told was delicious and a favorite treat of my daughter and her friends. Our meals arrived more quickly than I'd thought they would, warm/hot, well presented and pretty darn good tasting! We ordered off the lunch menu- my daughter the steak with a generous portion of mashed potatoes, and me the 1/4 fire roasted chicken with the sautéed vegetables. Yum on both. Her steak was well prepared medium rare, and the roasted chicken was really good- the flavor went all the way through- and whatever dry rub was used on the bird added just the right amount of seasoning without being too much. This place is reportedly extremely busy on weekend evenings (1 - 2 hour waits!) I'm sure because of its intimate, pub like decor, the open fire rotisserie, and the good tasting menu! Try it when you are in the area but have a snack first if it's busy and you can't find a seat at the bar.

We really enjoyed the food there and was well worth the money. I was a little surprised that the hostess was very unhappy looking as well as the manager. It definately set a mood in the place. We had the spitfires appetizer with our meal and they were really good. I would go back again, hopefully here will be some smiling faces.

Overall pretty good. Went with the Brisket Sandwich which was just okay. Not sure if there wasn't enough sauce, but there wasn't much memorable flavor; it was juicy though. Atmosphere is nice, and our waiter kept the drinks topped off!

Good bbq/ classic steak house mix. Had the steak and rib combo while wife had steak with alfredo sauce and gorgonzola crumbles. Both were good but slightly over cooked. Too long on the grill and then did not sit long enough for juices to settle. On a very positive note their Little Spitfires appetizer is FANTASTIC.

Amazing food! We stopped here for lunch on our way back to Chicago from Winnipeg. There were 3 of us and all three of us thought the food was outstanding. I had the fire pig and it was delicious. It had just a little kick but the pork brisket was perfectly cooked. I ordered asparagus as the side, which also was a great choice-fresh and perfectly grilled and seasoned. The others ordered beef brisket sandwiches and loved them too. The food is worth the stop and the service was excellent too. If I am ever passing through Fargo again, I will definitely stop here.

Everything was delicious! We had the rib sampler and the raspberry was by far our favorite (it is pretty sweet though). The wild rice soup is also a must try. It's a thicker cream based soup and it has a very buttery flavor --- yum! I also can't forget to mention that the butter they serve with the bread is just perfect, it has a slight hint of honey. According to our fabulous waitress, the brisket sandwiches are the best. Accordingly, I ordered the brisket supreme. It doesn't have as much meat on it as I thought it would but the meat and bun are so soft that it melts in your mouth!

Great bar-b-que for the midwest. Pit boss sandwich (ask for more barbque sauce) local Drekker red ale were very good.

I will have to stop by again the next time I'm in the area. I typically eat a variety of meats when I'm at a barbecue place but this time I only had a brisket wrap. it was tasty but it's hard to really judge how good the barbecue is based on a small sandwich. I also had an unsweetened iced tea that tasted like it might've been made with well water, it kind of had a funky taste. The place was very nice and it smelled like a good smokehouse. I will have to try again when I have a bigger appetite and hopefully I can leave a better review.

Been here many times and never fails to make me happy! Pretty decent service, waiters and waitresses are nice. Bread they give you is warm and very good. I usually get the fettuccine alfredo and from a mainly American place it is very good! Always come back!

While shopping at Furniture Mart for new furniture, it was around lunchtime. We asked one of the saleswomen if there was somewhere good to eat lunch nearby and she recommended the Spitfire Grill across the street as staff would go to eat there. I tried the place, having heard of it before when looking up barbecue joints, and I was impressed. Parking in the back, I was hit by the smell of savory cooking wood which is used for cooking the meats here. The food lived up to expectations. The chicken & wild rice soup is beyond excellent as a starter and my brother went with a heaping of Texas fries to start off with (that is a meal in itself for smaller appetites). My main course was the BBQ pulled pork sandwich which exceeded my expectations; the sauce tasted good and the meat was moist. It wasn't dry, bland or too burnt tasting as other BBQ joints can be. The same goes for the rotisserie chicken! The meat itself was moist, not at all dry like rotisserie chicken you'd get at other restaurants or at a supermarket. The sides like french fries, beans and seasoned rice are also superior as if the restaurant put effort into preparing those - rather than treating the side dishes as being an afterthought. Anyone wanting good meat needs to go to Spitfire Grill!

Made an online reservation for tonight at 8:00 = when we got there we were told that they do not take reserations for Friday or Saturday (but I had a confirmation email to prove it) the greater Jordan was extremely disrespectful and condisending. We asked how long was the wait and she again was unprofessional and disrespectful. If it wasn't because my son gave me a dinner gift certificate I would never step on this restaurant. Bad service! Jordan you need to go to work at Burger King

Love this place! The food is fantastic and portions are large. After several trips there I have never once been disappointed. I consider this one of the best in the area!

I was pleasantly surprised by Spitfire after hearing opinions that were not so favorable. It was in a convenient location, so we decided to try it. The food was actually as good or better than any rotisserie and the service was great. The only thing keeping it from five stars is the noise level. The setup tends to make it feel like you are just sitting in a big room with a lot of people so it's difficult to hear others if you are trying to have a conversation!

I can sort of see why this has a three star and maybe I should give it a 4 star but I went there with my boyfriend and he order the brisket sandwich and I ordered the pulled pork. Mine was meh. His was HOLY CRAP THIS IS SO GOOD IM GONNA EXPLODE!!!! Go eat their brisket. Yummmmmmmmmyyyyy. Almost as good as crab legs.

Great food, good atmosphere AND they carry Fargo Brewing Company's StonesThrow. Absolutely love their Raspberry Chicken Ciabatta sandwich and the Big Red flatbread bake. There's salads, wraps, pasta, burgers and more. You're sure to find something you like.

Best thing: the grilled salmon Worst thing: price is high (to be expected from an establishment like this though) I had the salmon, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious. The portion of mashed potatoes were huge! The asparagus was cooked perfectly, as was the salmon. I love the sweet butter they serve complimentary before the meal. I also had a Sangria which was quite large and decently priced. It was a classy, quiet atmosphere, and the server was very nice. It's a little spendy for my budget so I can't afford to go there frequently, but I look forward to the next time I do.

I had the gourmet raspberry rubbed rack of ribs and the flavor was surprisingly good. However the ribs were dry not moist which made it a miserable to enjoy. Here I what I think happened.... They made this awhile back took it out if the freezer and nuked it .... After I ordered my food was out in approx 8mins!! Even my waitress was surprised that it came out that fast. I have eaten here in the past and it was great but with how much demand there is in this area for everything....... (Housing/jobs/restaurants etc) I think the standard is dropping:(

Superb food. A little spendy. The parking lot is always crowded and with good reason. You can only make reservations with a larger party of 7+ people and only on certain days. Despite being crowded they get customers in at a decent clip. Only downside is if they are very busy or you make an order with big variance in prep time some things might arrive cooler than you would like. Highly recommend.

We had very good walleye fingers. I had 6 oz. sirloin cooked precisely as I ordered, rice, and asparagus. The asparagus was firm and not overlooked. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive. A very good experience. I will be back!

Brisket ok but thought the portion was small for a 9buck sandwich, FF salty & tough. SWMBO had a Boss burger, it was nicely charred topped with a too SWEET raspberry sauce(chipotle would be a nice add), cheese and cold onion straws--service was good and the beer wasn't too cold

This was the only other place on my hit list of places to visit in Fargo I actually made it to this year and I was hopeful for the place, as I wanted to take my mother out for a nice birthday/late Mother's Day dinner. The experience was chock full of miscues, however. The decor is kind of cool, a sort of low-lit classy thing, which is not easy to pull off given how many people they pack in there. Service was friendly, but overall mostly inept and either they or the kitchen were responsible for those mentioned miscues. My wife made the mistake of ordering the salad, which she got after all of the other cooked entrees. It basically looked like they dumped a pile of black beans and various other elements on a plate and brought it out to her. My mother wound up with a California Club sandwich, which wound up being to her liking and my son greatly enjoyed his corn dog bite things. I really enjoyed when the table behind us left and the new ones came in, after we had already been there some time, but before our food and the waiter brought the black bread and butter to both tables, ours and the one behind that had new people in it. I think we had a good 45 seconds to ponder this great mystery before our actual entrees came. Nice work? Both my father and I ordered the Pit Boss sampler plate, which I think will probably be the last time he follows me in ordering stuff as I also figured with a name like Spitfire, they might have some sort of hotter sauce and they did. I ordered it, he followed suit and promptly wound up punishing himself and suffering accordingly. As to that plate, the brisket was considerably overdone. The ribs were acceptable, but nothing on any kind of higher level. The wings were decent, but again, nothing tremendous. None of the meats had any particular degree of smoke flavoring to them, despite what looked like a smoker in the parking lot. Probably the best thing was the sausage, which went nicely with the hotter sauce, though nothing else did. That sauce is far too intensive on the bitter end of the peppers and while it does have some minor heat, it is not flavorful enough to eat by itself and is better mixed with the otherwise poor BBQ sauce. The honey mustard was also tolerable and the Buffalo sauce of the creamy variety, which I'm not much a fan of. The fries were a neat total misfire, though. The portion on the plate was reasonable for the money -- my dad took a good bit of his home, though I did not -- no complaints there. I finished up with a key lime cheesecake, which was easily the best thing I had that night and quite good overall. It was about the only thing that would be close to the level of a much larger city.

My favorite place to regularly go. I have not had any food or service that is subpar from these guys. Atmosphere is casual and a bit dom for lighting, but I find it relaxing. We mostly get chicken raspberry ciabatta and it is always a great.

Good food. We always sit in the bar, and eat there. We would love to be able to sit in the restaurant area, but we don't want to wait for a table. It is like that every time we go there. That is great for them. My only complaint is that the bar is really, really, noisy. The noise level is usually through the roof. But, the spit fire quesadillas are especially good.

I currently live in the south, so one should take my review with a grain of salt. We have some of the country's best BBQ, so it's difficult for any Midwestern establishment to measure up. However, for Fargo it's pretty decent. We started with the BBQ nachos, which include pulled pork or chicken, BBQ beans, cheese sauce, sour cream and jalapeños. I had the tortilla soup and a chicken salad for dinner. The chicken on my salad was of the rotisserie variety and was very tasty. I am only giving this place three stars because while I think the meat is done well, their other ingredients seem on the cheap side, kind of like if Applebee's owned a BBQ and rotisserie chicken joint. If you want well-prepared proteins, check out Doolittle's instead. Their sides and appetizers are worth it too!

Very highly rated for bbq . Not fond of bbq but went anyway because of the high rating. Lots of bbq and fried foods. Place was packed. Definately a place to dine if this is the type of food you enjoy. Loved our wine. Tks.

My wife and I came here based upon many recommendations from people. They said the food was outstanding (and it was, up to a point), but the reason I'm giving this place a 1-star rating will become apparent shortly. We went here in the middle of the afternoon for an early dinner, because this place is usually so busy. I had ordered their Raspberry-Glazed Ribs, and my wife had ordered their Pulled Pork. I was thoroughly enjoying my side dish of coleslaw, when I detected something in my mouth. I reached in and pulled out a long, black hair! Disgusting! I immediately called our waitress over and told her what I had discovered. She apologized, and went to go get the manager. The manager apologized, and offered to replace the coleslaw with another one or with a complimentary dessert (my choice). "Really? I found a foot-long strand of black hair from one of your cooks in my coleslaw, and this is all the better you can do for me?" Her only response was, "I'm sorry, sir, but that's our company's policy." I just sat there, shocked. Absolutely every single person I've told this story to said I deserved our entire meal comped (and I agree), or at the very least I should've had my portion of the bill taken care of! I just said we would take their Apple Crisp to go. Good thing it was free, because the little piece of crap they gave us wasn't worth the $7 price tag in either quantity nor quality. Considering that Fargo has better barbeque (and friendlier wait staff) at Doolittle's and Famous Dave's, Spitfire will never receive my business again, and I intend on telling my story to anyone who thinks Spitfire is the greatest place to eat!

I moved to Fargo last year and have gone to "Spitfire Bar & Grill" about ten times, each time walking away more than satisfied. The service is great and the food is amazing. The staff will do whatever it takes to make you happy and they're always friendly. Their ribs, steak, chicken, and salmon are great! One time my salmon wasn't cooked all the way so I simply asked if they could throw it back on the grill, but instead they gave me a whole new plate free of charge. Whenever my friends and I go out to dinner we go to "Spitfire Bar & Grill".

I came to Spitfire on a busy Thursday night on a recommendation from the front desk at the hotel I was staying at. I was seated promptly, but I'm not sure if they were understaffed or what but they had 1 waitress serving ~18 tables plus a bar. It took a lot longer to order than I would have liked (~25 minutes after I closed the menu and set it down on the side of the table.) I ordered the Chicken/Ribs combo which was served very quickly (~10 minutes), especially for how busy the restaurant was. The chicken was moist and good (although it could have used a bit more seasoning/salt), and the ribs were a bit tough and bland, although still much better than you'd get from a place like Applebee's. The coleslaw was very good and tasted home-made, and the beans were also good (but could probably have used a bit more kick.) Overall it was good, but not earth-shattering.

My wife and I read positive reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor which convinced us to try Spitfire for our anniversary dinner. It was a big disappointment. I ordered the prime rib and soup and my wife ordered the chicken and a salad. My wife had just started her salad when the entrees were delivered. We told our 1st waitress about this and she said the restaurant was slow recently and orders were flying through the kitchen. The portions were pretty large so when I finished half my meal I pushed it aside and the waitress asked if she could clear. I said OK and then she asked if I might want dessert. I said maybe and she brought a dessert menu even though my wife was still eating. I left the menu unopened and was talking with my wife when she came back and asked for our dessert order even though my wife was still working on her salad and chicken. We decided not to have dessert and just left. What a disappointment. The staff was friendly and the food OK. The waitresses need training. I didn't see any managers to discuss our experience with so we just paid and left. We won't rush back to this place.

The atmosphere and modern look make this place exciting. This place was packed whenever during my first visit. I ordered the original chicken meal which consisted of there known rotisserie chicken which you can watch cook over a spitfire wood. It was very tasty. My wife ordered the ribs which were somewhat dry to my tasting. The beer was kind of pricey for a 16oz Miller Lite for $4.95. Overall, this is another American style restaurant which uses a spitfire wood grill that makes it unique.

I have never been very impressed by this place. It isn't bad by any means but it just isn't great. They are known for their roasted chicken. My favorite is the chicken wild rice soup. The outside is nice enough, although it is in a parking lot. The inside is quaint and the staff is nice.

I would never eat here again, and encourage people to stay away. I ordered a simple burger, with a side of mayo. I got my burger and mayo, without paying much attention, I put what I thought was may on my burger and then dipped a frie in it. It was tater sauce. I asked for mayo again and possibly a new bun top since it had tater sauce on it. Then the waitress brought tater sauce again. now my burger is cold after waiting 15 mins for a bun top. They asked to warm up my burger I said ok, waited 10 mins for it and it came back looking like charcoal, at this point I was peeved. I had 3 bites of my burger and ate my fries. I asked if I could get something off my check.. they said well if you want a free beer we can do that. Worst Service and management I have been apart of. You couldn't pay me to go there again.

First off. Love the food. I always have a difficult time deciding what to eat just because I have too many favorites, including the sides which don't come with the pastas I love. Speaking of sides, the skinless baked are pretty much the best mashed potatoes I've ever had, and the only restaurant potatoes I will eat. I'm really picky and hate the taste of dried potatoes but these are the real deal and they use real butter, not margarine. The reason for the 3 stars is because on our visit this week we were in a large party, and yes I understand that in itself is a headache for a restaurant. But they put together a bunch of high tops for us to sit at. The problem was we had 5 kids and they don't have boosters only high chairs. The high chairs barely came half way up the table. My husband and I debated just leaving but part of our party ended up sitting at a booth by themselves with the kids. We were dumbfounded by the fact that their back room was completely empty and would have easily fit us but they didn't put us back there, instead we watched them close it down. Finally, we were ready to order but our server didn't come back for a really long time. In fact I had to go grab her and ask her if she could come take our order as I had a hungry toddler. To the restaurant's credit all of our food came out correct (to my knowledge) and relatively quick. But our night was still pretty much ruined since we couldn't enjoy the party we were there for since we were split up and it took so long to order our food.

I came here after running the Fargo Half Marathon. I ordered the Pork Cuban Sandwich, which was pretty tasty, but a bit on the dry side. I liked that I could pick from a wide variety of side dishes. I had the asparagus, which was perfectly tender-crisp. Everyone else's food looked great as well, and portion sizes are substantial. I would definitely come here again if I was in the area.

Food is excellent. Try the Texas egg rolls or the bacon and chicken jalapeño poppers (way good!). French fries are very well seasoned and crispy. Unlike other reviews, our service was better than many other restaurants. Our drinks were always full, the waitress was attentive but not constantly interrupting us, and all this while the wait staff was slammed as the restaurant had a 30+ minute wait.

It was busy when we arrived, always a sign of a good place to dine. My girlfriend and I searched for a place to sit at the bar, because we wanted to catch the Miami Heat game. There were no seats, and after looking around for a minute, the manager approached us and offered to wipe down a table for us right away, right next to the bar so we could still watch the game. Since that TV had something else on, the manager offered to change the channel for us without question. Great service with a smile. He was a tall, young, slim gentleman with a purple shirt. Our appetizer was good, and the food was OK, but the sangria was where it was at. It's really what we came for, the Heat game and the Sangria. Server was friendly and knowledgable, answered any questions we had and made suggestions. I made sure to speak again to that manager to thank him for taking care of us. We will be back again not so much for the food, but for the great drinks and service! =) If we came just for the food I'd probably rate this place a 3.5 or a 4. One cool thing about spitfire that you don't see in many restaurants is that the entire server alley (and part of the cook line) is open to guests, through a window. It was clean and organized, which is a great sign!

I havent eaten at this restaurant they came out and catered an employee appreciation dinner we had at our job site which was about an hour and a half northwest of where they were. The owner came out and informed me that this was not a franchise which I was happy about because I like supporting local businesses whenever possible. They had a smoker that they brought on site and they made the most amazing dry rub ribs that I have had, and we had quite a bit of guys from Texas who agreed it was good stuff. They also had a rib eye which was good but the ribs were def the winner. They also had a few sides which was all excellent. SO check it out!

Just had takeout from here the other day and it was great! I called about noon on Sunday and the hostess on the phone was very pleasant and helpful. I have heard good things about their normal service as well. I had the brisket wrap which was unique but really good. What I was a HUGE fan of was the BBQ pork nachos! Wow, I may be biased because I am a big nacho person, but these were fantastic. Will definetely eat here again!

So, my 3 months anniversary finally here. And I couldnt think of a better place to take my lovely lady than this place. We arrived around 9 Pm while Michael Vick was obliterating Washington redskins for 6 touchdown. But my girlfriend is more important than Monday Night Football. We ordered a bottle of wine because they have a specials half price on bottle of wine on monday night. The foods are great and the service is excellent. We ordered 3 items and 3 items are bullseye. So we can honestly say that we found ourselves another gem in fargo. If you havent try spitfire yet, you should!

I got some combo plate, the grilled sausage had such a strong smoke flavor, it was almost unfit to eat. It tasted like somebody spilled the bottle of liquid smoke on it. The other items in the combo were good. Hubby got pulled pork, he said it was dry, and a small portion(since it was so dry the small portion worked out anyway). We split the nachos...that was a ton of chips.

Ate here last night while in Fargo on business. Food was okay. I had the rasberry glazed ribs and two sides. Ribs were good and most of the meat fell off the bone except for down near the bottom where there was a lot of cartilage. Other than that the ribs were decent. Came with two sides. Had the baked beans and corn on the cob. No onions in the beans which is plus. both were good. My co-worker got the brisket and steamed veggies. She said it was good. Service was good, tea and lemonade was brought out for refills without having to ask. Only downside, other tables received a loaf of bread, we did not get one and it did look good. Place was busy and people seemed to be pleased with their service.

Since I've been told Fargo is chain restaurant heaven, I'd like to let you know this is another local gem. I went here for lunch and had the KC BBQ style ribs. Can't believe how much meat were on them and they seriously filled me up. Couldn't even finish the side of fries. Service was quick too! (in and out in less than an hour) $20 for two of us before tip.

Not many choices for BBQ in the Fargo area and this replacement for what was formerly an Uno's is a nice option. It smells great when you walk in with the wood smoke and rotisserie chickens cooking in the open kitchen. That is, it smells great if you're in the mood for some smokey BBQ. The mostly sweet BBQ sauce is pretty good. We enjoyed the huge BBQ nachos and egg rolls (sounded strange to us too, but were really pretty darn good). Ribs and pork were decent, chicken was great, but brisket was dry. A couple of nice beers on tap (Smithwicks,Stella), and prices aren't outrageous (not cheap either tho'). In the summer there's a nice patio with a fire pit. Service was good with the exception that you can't hear them call your name in the bar when it's crowded and that's your tough luck. But overall a thumbs up.

I give it a three because the service is always terrible! The food is always good but I can hardly go there because the service is so bad. I would still recommend trying it. Price is decent. The nacho appetizer is a must have!

Stopped in on a Friday evening, had a 15-20 minute wait to be seated. Opted to wait in the bar area. Ordered the steak and rib combo. Food came in just the right amount of time. Everything was perfectly prepared. The service and ambiance were everything you would expect. One thing to keep in mind: it was a bit chilly inside. All in all, a great experience and I'll definitely be going back

The food here is pretty good, saw several things on the menu I would like to try if I am in town again. They have alcohol, which is always a nice option, especially if the food isn't good. The ambiance is nice, new, kind of like a fern bar.

Our favorite place for date night! Highly recommend Triple Pig Sandwich and skinless baked potatoes!

We came at a very busy time (8pm on a Sat. night) but they had us seated within 20 minutes. Our appetizer took a bit to get out but that was understandable considering how busy it was. Our waitress Briana C. was friendly and informative. I ordered the house sirloin (could have had a little bit less seasoning on it) with 2 sides, garlic mashed potatoes (delish) and coleslaw which was good but I have had better. My husband had the pull Cuban sandwich with fries. He said he liked it and would order it again. Overall we'd definably come back.
